Finding Corporate Prospects

One of the most difficult tasks in corporate research is identifying a solid corporate prospect lead. Many factors can influence which direction a research, fundraiser, and ultimately an organization go into accomplishing this goal. Key aspects to consider are:

  1. What is your organization trying to accomplish? If your organization got corporate dollars, where would they go? What programs would they support? What need would they fill? Understanding these questions is important in determining what the identification approach will look like.

  2. What is the company trying to accomplish? Gain an understanding of why a company is in a specific philanthropic space. Why is this issue in particular important to them? Use this to identify how your organization can help

  3. Think big picture. Take knowledge gained in step 1 and 2 then turn it into an organizational priority that is reliant on bringing together your organization and a corporate partner.

Viewing corporate identification in this way can help researchers find solid corporate leads, help fundraisers cultivate meaningful relationships, and ultimately help organizations achieve their most ambitious goals.
